Governor's ban on concealed carry of firearms in governmental buildings.

Dear Sir;

I oppose your ban on concealed carry of firearms in governmental buildings for several reasons. The courts have ruled on the individual right to bear arms. I do not think such a basic constitutional right can or should be negated by executive order.

Secondly you are establishing a gun free zone which seem to attract those most intent on mass killings and thus putting our state employees in a more dangerous situation. Your actions make me think of the Virginia Tech professor who gave his life shielding his students with his body. If he had not been in a gun free zone and was armed he could possibably have stopped the killing. He certainly had the courage to do so. Your ban puts our state employees in exactly the same situation.

Thirdly those of our citizens who exercise this constitutional right must leave our fire arm in our cars if we need to visit a building covered by your ban. This gives the criminal element a better opportunity to steal a firearm and use it for criminal purposes which is something we all hope to avoid.

I hope you wili reconsider your ban and it's implications and make our state employees safer by recinding it.

Thank you,

Yours truly,

Vance Wilkins
