This Regulatory Action Is Misdirected

It is a disappointment to have a governor concentrated on making law-abiding citizens the object of “anti-gun” laws when he SHOULD be addressing his efforts on strengthening and enforcing existing laws and ordinances covering criminals and persons committing crimes using firearms.  Watch the news – it’s not the citizens with valid concealed carry permits killing people or off-duty policemen potentially running rampant in state owned buildings.  It’s people robbing convenience stores, criminals breaking into homes to steal, men abducting and raping teen-aged girls – most with a probably stolen hand gun.

The Commonwealth should address the REAL problems:  stolen or illegal firearms; use of firearms in acts of crime; lack of public education in safe and proper firearm use, handling, and storage; lack of significant evaluation of the existing, mandatory Background Check that licensed registered gun dealers are required to have gun buyers complete.

This issue is sufficiently important that the review and comment period should be extended an additional 30 days to allow more input from concerned Commonwealth citizens.
