The Governor of the Commonwealthof Virginia is an elected public servant, not an appointed/anointed/or hereditary monarch. By imposing a unilateral edict banning concealed carry in state executive buildings is establishing a precedent for disaster. Once the initial ban becomes permanent, it will be easy for current and future holders of this office to obscenely misconstrue the noble intent to endanger the public welfare. Persons dedicated to inflicting gun violence on society tend to avoid prosecution for their acts by taking their own lives after killing innocents. Give the general public that are entrusted by the state to carry concealed the opportunity to defend themselves in the face of unwavering threats, since they do not have the privilege of 24/7 security to keep them safe. Additionally, it could eventually be construed by future elitists that the office for grounds keepers at the rest areas are sites of government business, which could then ban lawful carriers engaged in both intrastate and interstate travel from visiting these sites.
