The only people who will obey this restriction are the law-abiding ones.  You are extending a warm welcome to criminals and terrorists by publicly announcing a " gun free" zone.  

Nevertheless, if Terry Mcauliffe thinks this is the wisest, safest way to protect one's self, he should set an example and lead the way.  Disarm all his bodyguards, and instead furnish them with "gun free zone" signs.  They can pull them out and brandish them whenever they perceive a possible threat.
