This proposed regulation is a fear mongering, political pandering move and will serve only to create a defenseless citizen zone. All "gun free" zones play into the hands of terrorists, violent criminals, and the criminally insane; by creating areas where those intent on committing crimes know lawful citizens will be unarmed.
We have had no shootings in any state agencies and this prohibition on those with a concealed handgun permit, some of whom have active and ongoing threats to their lives, is entirely without any justification and needlessly and recklessly endangers innocent lives.
Importantly this regulation is outside of the governor's authority, this power rests with the General Assembly. If the General Assembly wanted the Governor to have such power, they would have granted it to him explicitly, as is required constitutionally.
Our governor is beholding to outside political interests, and seeking to satiate his out of state political investors irrational fear of an armed citizenry by creating victim zones. This should not be part of our regulatory process.
This proposed regulation is a solution for which there is no problem. It endangers state employees, law abiding citizens, and the innocent by making state buildings a safe zone for terrorists, criminals, and the criminally insane to conduct their evil and savage actions.
Not only should this regulation not be approved, but the governor's senseless emergency ban should be full revoked.
