I’m a resident of Alexandria, Virginia and I am opposed to this petition becoming part of the state’s health rules and regulations. There are many serious health concerns facing women and girls in Virginia, including prenatal and maternal health and domestic violence, but the presence of trans people is not one of them. This petition proposes to solve a problem that doesn’t exist. It is an anti-feminist and reactionary position that proposes to dictate who can and cannot be a woman based on their looks. This kind of regulation would reduce safety for women and girls in locker rooms and other athletic facilities, because it would empower people to eject those they thought “looked wrong.” Children, especially girls, should not be subject to this kind of scrutiny of their bodies from the government or from their fellow citizens - that’s so creepy and invasive! My trans friends and family members are not a threat in locker rooms, they’re just people who deserve just as much access to facilities and opportunities as others. Thank you for taking the time to read this comment, And for your work to keep Virginia healthy happy and free.
