Hello. I'm writing you to oppose petition 432. I am the mother of a trans child and a therapist who works with trans clients. These kinds of policies are actively harmful and lead to increases in depression and suicidal ideation among trans youth. We have no evidence that trans identity is something that we can change so encouraging children to live as their gender assigned at birth is cruel. Trans children deserve access to athletic programs and facilities. Frankly all people are genetically different along a variety of lines not just gender. The idea that someone assigned male at birth is automatically better at all sports is just crazy. Also if we’re so concerned about sports fairness why arent we looking into anything else that affects fairness which is more prevalent. There are so few trans women in sports that this is just absurd. It is also completely based in sexism as you may have noticed nobody complains about trans men playing sports.
