Support for proposed amendment of 8 VAC 20-131-270
I fully support the proposed amendment to the state regulations establishing standards at 8 VAC 20-131-270 for public schools in Virginia.
With all the excellent literature available as a resource for instruction, it is sad that a school board would find it necessary to use such material for "educating" students in their charge.
Including such a notice to parents about any sensitive or sexually explicit materials that may be included in the course, the textbook, or any supplemental instructional materials; and a copy of the school division promotion, retention, and remediation policies for the material is the least a school system board should be required to provide to parents.
