The existing measures being taken to make sure that students are not being asked to read inappropriate material work in all but a very few cases. In those cases where a selection is really questionable, the administration of that school or for that county can deal with the situation. Additional regulations are not needed and will only hamstring teachers.
I realize that the word "inappropriate" is going to be applied differently by parents, teachers, districts, and students, but so is the word "sensitive" that appears in the proposed rule. Adding the rule doesn't clarify anything.
