Please Pass The Poultry Litter Regulation

Hi My name is Nettie Zappala and I live at 2648 West Street, Falls Church VA  22046, tel# 703-850-1359.  I'm writing because I use the Shenandoah River, our beloved brook trout streams in SNP, local streams, creeks, lakes and tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay to flyfish and canoe.  I support the regulation of end users and brokers when they use poultry litter as fertilizer.  After several decades of concentrated litter use in the Shenandoah Valley and Eastern Shore we have already demonstrated convincingly the type of pollution that occurs when litter use is unregulated.  Please help improve the condition of our polluted rivers and also ensure our healthy streams remain pristine by requiring litter application setbacks from sensitive environmental features and streams, soil testing to guide application rates, application close to crop growing season, and better litter covering practices.  Thank you for considering my perspective.  As a member of a local women's flyfishing organization, Chesapeake Women Anglers, we practice catch and release to protect our native fish, but we must also protect our fisheries and waters from pollution for future generations.
