I strongly oppose extending the unconstitutional agency gun ban

I strongly oppose extending the unconstitutional ban on firearms in state agency buildings. There has never been a shooting in a Virginia executive office, so the ban is a solution in search of a problem. On the other hand, the data clearly shows that all but one mass shooting in 50 years occurred in gun-free zones. The logical response to the data is to eliminate gun-free zones. But, this extension of a mis-guided executive order does exactly the opposite, which will increase the probability that Virginia workers in the covered areas will be at greater risk. Albert Einstein is famously quoted as observing that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again whilst expecting a different outcome. Five decades of data says that the proposed permanent ban of firearms from VA executive buildings will have exactly the opposite effect of that intended. A recent Harvard study again shows that guns in citizens' hands reduce violent crime. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Do not extend this ban!
