Why Gun Bans Don't Work

Governor Terry Mcauliffe is reacting to an emotional issue with a response that is neither reasonable nor effective.  Chicago is a prime example of how gun bans do not stop criminals from using guns to commit crimes.  Gun bans only take away guns from honest law-abiding citizens who then have no means of defending themselves when faced with an attacker who has no difficulty in getting guns to kill innocent people.  In 2013 32,719 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents in the US.  Instead of banning motor vehicles to prevent these deaths our government fouses on promoting driver, vehicle, and highway safety.  Why aren't we focusing on gun safety?  We focus on fines, education, and punishment for driving under the influence instead of banning alcohol consumption and vehicles on our roads.  Driving a car is a priviledge, not a constitutional right.  But owning a firearm is a constitutional right and it deserves more consideration than that which we give the priviledge of driving a vehicle.
