This policy makes no one safer. As we've seen countless times, denying the law abiding arms does nothing to deter those bent on criminal action from being armed. Right on your border, a man walked into gun free zone with a shotgun and killed multiple people at the Washington Navy Yard.

As a retired LEO, I can say with certainty that law enforcement can't respond quickly enough to make a meaningful difference in most shooting incidents. Self protection is the only viable answer.
