I am concerned that the Disability Activism which I recall and was part of in the 70s,80s, and into the early 90s has abated as more of us 'old soldiers' age and die off. The D.C. rallies, State House lobbying and sit-ins, and force by mass campaigns have given way to phone calls, social media, and letter writing. While I acknowledge that these newer tools can and do help to mobilize the troops, they cannot replace blood & guts activism and a loud public outcry! This is especially true when choosing our battles wisely and identifying real threats to our health, independence, and life! I believe that we, as a bold and outspoken impacted community MUST pull together, even more than we have, and show those in power/control what "Nothing about us, Without us, really stands for!
EVV is dehumanizing. The disabled are supposed to be included, not tracked like a felon to be able to be part of the community.
