I oppose the proposal to limit master’s-level counselor licensure to graduates from CACREP-accredited programs only.  As a supervisor who has worked with graduates from CACREP-approved programs versus non-CACREP- approved programs, I see no qualitative difference in skill, ability, or education.  In fact, in some cases, I have had to supplement the education from the CACREP-approved programs so that the interns would be competent clinicians.  Individuals should be evaluated on their own ability and knowledge as to whether they may qualify for licensure.
