In favor of CACREP requirement

There are some careers that should have consistent missions, goal, and objectives no matter which route you take.  I feel that Professional Counseling falls into that category.  This is a profession that has a great impact on the health and wellness of individuals.  If I were a client I would want to know that my counselor has had extensive training and is adequately prepared to help me.  CACREP accreditation sets a  high and consistent standard for it's schools.  If every counseling program used the same standard we would know for sure that everyone that graduates has met or exceeded the standard and is competent in their field. I understand that everyone should have the right to choose a program that works best for them, but as a counselor-in-training in a CACREP accredited program, I know I will be prepared for my profession.  Doesn't everyone want that security??
