Abortion Clinic Safety Regulations

It is imperative that we maintain the high standards of safety for women.  The Regulations for the Licensure of Abortion Facilities (12 VAC 5-412) along with all the 2010 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities are necessary to protect women and ensure we don't end up with a horrific situation like Dr. Gosnell in PA.  Two unsafe clinics have already been closed that likely resulted in saved lives.  Many women have been harmed in these very invasive procedures in substandard clinics throughout the nation.  Unfortunately, the abortion lobby like Planned Parenthood fights to protect their revenue stream regardless of the consequences.  The priority must be in safety to prevent serious infection, long term injury, or death.  Too many abortion clinics are filthy, lack the basics of medical equipment that dentists or small animal vets would even have, and place serious risks to their patients.  Women deserve better.  Virginia deserves better.  I strongly urge you to avoid the partisan politics often associated with the difficult issue of abortion and do what is best for women who may enter into these clinics.  Thank you for your consideration.
