Allow expired photo IDs as acceptable IDs for voting

The General Assembly passed a law in 2013 requiring voters to show an approved photo ID at the polls starting on July 1, 2014.  Imposing a photo ID requirement on the right to vote is a modern-day poll tax especially when no in-person voter fraud is occurring. As if this wasn't egregous enough proposed regulations would make expired IDs not acceptable. Keep expired photo IDs on the list of accepted IDs.

The current regulation permits voters who no longer drive, such as the elderly, to use their expired Virginia driver’s license to vote.   If the proposed revision passes, these voters will not have acceptable photo IDs and aren’t able to drive to a general registrar’s office to get a free voter photo ID. Making matters worse, the SBE did not mandate that local general registrars conduct mobile outreach to sign-up voters who can’t travel to a general registrar’s office.

This is unacceptable!

Allow voters to use expired photo IDs to vote and oppose this revision!

I oppose amending the definition of "valid" and support allowing voters to use expired Virginia driver's licenses or U.S. passports to vote.
