A "solution" in search of a problem

The requirement that some of the IDs need to be unexpired in order to be valid is ridiculous. I may have given up international travel and driving, and let both my passport and driver's license expire, but I'm still the same person I've alwyas been, just older. The registrar-provided photo ID doesn't have either the expiration date on it; does that mean I should use the taxpayer money to get one of those "forever IDs" rather than use an ID I already have? It would be much more consistent to accept all photo IDs, expired or not. It would be even more sensible to stay with the old requirements; can anyone tell whether the person in the half-inch photo is the same one as the person standing in front of you (I work as an Officer of Elctions every now and then)? The photo ID requirement is nonsense, just making it harder for people to vote.
