VA. must regulate for Licensure of Abortion Facilities

If we indeed value womens lives & safety, we should at the very least expect that Abortion Facilities use the well known (among medical & nursing professionals) Universal Precautions to prevent Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Infections. Periodical inspections of these places as result of proper regulations by the State is a must.

The goal of the Abortion Facility should be to provide a service, that will help women. That being the case, the place should be staffed with the appropriate professionals who are at the very least aware of the dangers of potentially infectious materials like BBP. The latter are dangerous to both the patients & the staff.

Among the recognized (& in these cases potentially) infectious matters of BBP are: human body fluids: semen, vaginal secretions, blood, amniotic fluid, saliva, any body fluid that is visibly contaminated with blood, and all body fluids in situations where it is difficult or impossible to differentiate between body fluids; any tissue or organ (other than intact skin) from a living or dead human being.

Contamination with these pathogens can happen through: the eyes, mucous membranes, & cuts or abrasions on the skin, etc. Preventative measures programs have to be followed, & periodic inspections would ensure compliance.

I could go on, but, I think you can appreciate from the above, that regulations have to exist to ensure the safety of all involved in these - yes- surgical procedures.

I recall the Clintons proclaiming that "Abortions should be rare & safe". So far, that seems to have turned out to be, just another political statement. Abortions are not rare nor safe.

PLEASE DO NOT LET OTHER RATIONALES OTHER THAN EXCELLENT HEALTH & MEDICAL CARE PREVAIL.

Thank you.
