Support TRAP Regulations

I emphatically support the TRAP regulations.  I believe that any medical procedure should be done under safe conditions.  If hospitals, eye surgery clinics, etc. all have to follow safety regulations, why shouldn't abortion clinics?

I have read many comments stating that closing those clinics which can't meet the regulations would "send abortions back into the dark ages."  That people would only perform "back alley" abortions or else have children that they can't support.  Well first of all, there will still be plenty of places to get safe abortions.  Secondly, even if it were the case that abortions would not be as readily available, people might take that fact into consideration and think twice before having sex when they are not prepared to have a child.  Thirdly, putting a child up for adoption is always an option.

I am firmly opposed to abortion.  I believe it is morally wrong.  If you saw a baby in a crib, would you feel fine about murdering the child in cold blood?  No?  At what point then, does the fetus become a human being?  I say that when God places a soul into the baby, that baby becomes a living human being.  But no one knows when that happens.  Are you really willing to decide when that time is, and take that big of a risk?

But God aside (although I believe He is intimately involved in this subject), women, if they decide to abort, should be able to do it in a clean, safe environment.  Some of the conditions in the current abortion clinics are shocking: blood from a previous procedure still inside equipment, etc.  Clinics should not be able to get away with this disregard of safety.  AIDS could easily be transmitted.  Sure, some of the regulations are ridiculous (as are many in hospitals) but the net outcome will produce a safer environment.

In closing, please follow through with the TRAP regulations.  Whether you are for or against abortion, TRAP regulations will produce a positive effect.
