As a born and raised Virginian I am embrassed at the Commonwealths latest slew of laws that imend on women's rights when it comes to choice, abortion, and medical care. As a Navy wife I am shocked at the close minded religious oriented approach the Commonwealth has taken towards law making. It is time to remove the Commonwealth from women's health choices. Subjecting women to ultrasounds prior to an abortion is a un-needed expense that insurance may not cover and over whelmingly emotional task on top of something that is already emotional and PERSONAL in choice. I can honestly say that until recently I never thought I would move out of my home state, but with all of these ridiculous, privacy invading laws that you have been passing on women, I truly am starting to think that in 17 months when my husband retires from the Navy, I will not only be supporting, but encouraging a move for us to another state.
"Women’s health centers that provide a full range of comprehensive health care services could close because of an inability to meet regulations that have nothing to do with women’s health and safety." This statement leads me to believe that the law makes in Virginia missed all those wonderful pie charts in last years Komen withdrawing funding from Planned Parenthood that showed just how much of PP's services were directed to education and preventative services vs abortion. By passing these regulations you are GREATLY raising the risk of young women with no health care options chances of cancers, and diseases because yearly exams won't be affordable.
"The Governor has imposed an “emergency” regulatory process to create the new rules, which will limit time for deliberation and public input." shows me our Governor is more concerned about his personal agenda that what the residents of Virginia want, and saddens me as I honestly was under the impression he was above this sort of behavior.
I truly hope my local reps (Hampton Roads/23661) do NOT vote to support any of these horrific, close minded, and middle ages based regulations/laws, because if they do I will NOT be voting for them again and WILL be very loudly supporting their opponents in the next election.
