The proposed regulations are long overdue. Abortion facilities need to at least meet the standards set for ambulatory care and emergency care providers. Because of the many unpublicized incidences of infections, botched abortions, and even death that occur as the result of abortion procedures, "the powers that be" need to ensure that these facilities maintain the highest level of protection to their patients.
