If the state is going to permit abortions, then it certainly has the responsibility to regulate the provision of abortions for the safety of its citizens. Opponents of this bill say its passage will bring back "back alley abortions." Regretably, from the description of the standards of cleanliness and infection prevention, it is apparent the abortionists have not progressed far from those back alleys. Abortion is an invasive medical procedure. Clinics providing abortions should meet the same regulatory standards applied to other clinics providing similar invasive medical procedures. If we must have abortionists then we should at least insist they wash their hands. Pass this bill!
