I am greatly concern that the intended closing of many health care clinics for women in need will result in lowering the available health care for women and, consequently, their families. These clinics offer excellent advice and counciling for women, helping them protect themselves and their children through wise planned parenthood. If any of these women, after careful, sincere, and intelligent consideration decide to terminate a just beginning pregnancy, they need the access to a convient, safe, caring clinic. Closing these clinics on the basis of political reasons and not on the basis of sound science and medical knowledge is just an insult to women. We as a state can do better than this. Yes, safety is important, but a clinic can be safe and not have the same exact footage, etc. regulations as a new hospital. It would be very nice to see some common sense and respect for women in our decisions.
