I am not a big proponent of government regulation but it does have its rightful place. We the people regulate many businesses through our elected governments. To help ensure we are kept safe from and not cheated by their services, we regulate restaurants, dentist offices, electricians, broadcasters, power plants, etc. The list is very long. So it is quite appropriate that we regulate abortion clinics too.
When we regulate businesses, it makes sense to develop rational, technically relevant regulations not arbitrary regulations base on emotions. We get subject matter experts to develop the regulations. In the case of abortion clinics, a group of health care professionals developed the regulations We should trust their proposed regulations as a professional product that's in the best interest of the citizens of our commonwealth.
Will regulations make abortions more expensive? Of course, but this is not a valid reason for not regulating abortion clinics. If it was, then we should also not regulate restaurants because it makes food more expensive. If it was, then we should also not regulate dentists because it make dental care more expensive. The list is very long but ou get the picture.
