Please overturn TRAP regulations in Virginia

TRAP regulations have absolutely nothing to do with protecting women’s health. Instead, these onerous regulations are designed to force the majority of women’s health centers in Virginia to close, and prevent Virginia women from exercising their constitutional right to safe, legal, abortion.  This has been promoted by the right wing Republican control of the state government and is not supported by the majority of the women in this state.  It is shameful that a group of old, white men can dictate these intimate health policies for women.

I lived in a time before Roe V Wade.  I had acquaintances in college who, when pregnant, either got a back alley abortion or went overseas to get an abortion.  The first were the poor females who had no other choice and several had horrendous medical problems afterwards.  The second were females from wealthy homes who could afford to 'travel' abroad to have skilled care.  It became apparent to me that, if a woman needed an abortion, she would get one. The reality is that wealthy women will ALWAYS get safe abortions if they want/need them and the poor are doomed to live with the Evangelical Rights view of morality.  How can one religious group dictate the morality of America when we are a country of many religions? And how can our government tell women what they can or cannot do with their own bodies?  What happened to the separation of Church and State our Founding Fathers embraced?
