I live in Pittsylvania County and I oppose Petition 432. 

In my opinion, the Board of Health has no business labeling groups of people harmful based on who they are and then penalizing them for who they are. 

Across all races, backgrounds, and genders, we all deserve to be treated fairly. There is a nationwide effort by some politicians and interest groups to force transgender people and LGBTQ+ people out of public life. These attacks harm us all - gay, straight, bi, cis, trans, nonbinary, queer - because they foster discrimination.

 I am a grandmother who wants her grandchildren to be respected for who they are and to respect other people, regardless of race, economics, gender identity, sexual identity, or any other characteristics that serve to divide us from each other. I long for a government who supports this outlook instead of hindering it.

This petition is all about discrimination. Surely we must be better than this.

I urge you to stand on the right side of history and reject Petition 432.
