Regulations placed on women's health centers do not come from a space of health and safety. Very clearly, these regulations are attempts to restrict a woman from making conscious health decisions about her pregnancy. Unfortunately, the passage of these regulations also have the effect of removing the option of other low cost health alternatives (like cancer screenings and infection treatment) that would now be priced out for many who depend on these centers.
The Commonwealth should do everything in its power to encourage access to health care, not move to restrict it. These regulations would do just that. In an attempt to achieve victory on a fringe health issue, Virginia is prepared to potentially put peoples' lives at risk. This is unacceptable.
