There was no public outcry from women seeking abortions in VA about the quality of facilities or lack of dignity. The outcry was from people who have never sought abortions in their lives and wish to keep others from doing so.
A highly paid lobbyist (Victoria Cobb) married to the Deputy Director at the VA Dept. of Health, was the chief proponent of the bill (now law) that required revised regulations for abortion clinics. The bill was introduced under false pretenses, with patrons claiming the purpose was to support women's health, when in fact the law was designed to reduce access to abortion and supported chiefly by pro-life organizations and legislators. Now that the law requires new regulations be instituted, they should be as minimal as possible since they are expensive and pointless and absolutely threaten to deny access to a medical procedure the Supreme Court has already declared legal.
The Deputy Director of VDH should be investigated for conflict of interest.
