Regulation should never impede access to health care

  • The proposed regulations are overly burdensome and unnecessary.  They have no proven medical benefit and may reduce or eliminate patient access to health care.
  • Women in Virginia need access to affordable, high quality health care, not less.  These regulations can increase the financial burden on patients and decrease access to health care options  marginalizing young, low-income, and uninsured women.
  • Abortion, though emotional unappealing, is a relatively safe medical procedure. Instead of improving safety, these regulations limit access to a wide range of reproductive health care services including life-saving cancer screenings, family planning, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment provided by women's health clinics.
  • Regulations of this type should be based solely on medical and scientific data, not emotional or quasi-religiously based agendas.
  • Regulation should never impede a women's access to essential health care.
