The board of heath has a duty to be scientifically objective. You know that abortion is one of the safest medical procedures there is. You should know that giving birth is far more dangerous than an abortion. If protecting health is your duty, then allowing women to get safe abortions should be at the top of your health recommendations. I am appaled that anyone on a board of health would stoop to a politically motivated crusade, rather than to protect women's health. The proposed regulations will limit women's access to preventitive health measures, not limited to cancer-screenings, diagnosis and treatment of STD's, urinary infections, pre-natal care, birth control, and family planning assistance. Unless you plan to offer these services free or at a low cost to women who can't afford health care, don't make it difficult for them to get it elsewhere because the Governor is on some personal war agaist poor women.
