Support for RGGI

I support Virginia remaining in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. I live in Norfolk where experience the effect of climate disruption due to fossil fuel burning every day. We are experiencing sunny day flooding due to sea level rise, extreme heat, and more frequent storms.

RGGI and conversion to clean sources of energy are our opportunity to reverse man-made climate disruption. RGGI provides funding for energy efficiency conversions and for the Community Flood Preparedness Fund in Hampton Roads.

I oppose Governor Youngkin's actions to remove us from RGGI and his anti-environmental stance. Virginia was slow to join RGGI; I was pleased when the General Assembly finally approved RGGI. Now the majority of Virginians support RGGI. It is unlawful for him to defy the General Assembly's mandate for Virginia to join RGGI.
