The Regional Green House Gas Initiative program is often touted as being geared towards coastal communities and those along the banks of rivers. But in the short time Virginia has been part of RGGI, cities across the Commonwealth have benefitted with a growing number of communities in central and western Virginia seeing opportunities to build more resiliency through this program and its funding. RGGI provides the state with the only dedicated funding source to address this growing issue. Removing us will only leave municipalities further behind the curve in their ability to fund projects that help mitigate flooding.
