Virginia should remain in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a cooperative, market-based effort among several states to cap and reduce CO2?emissions from the power sector.
Virginia has received millions in revenue from the program and should continue to do so. These funds are going to flood preparedness, crucial for Hampton Roads as well as rural communities.
RGGI has enormous potential to address crucial needs in Virginia, as it has done in other participating states. I strongly encourage continued participation in RGGI because of the benefits the program brings to Virginia. It's the right thing for Virginia now and into the future.
