As a former teacher, the idea of taking away parental involvement in the process of education seems almost unthinkable.  I would have felt quite uncomfortable with preventing parents from knowing what I was doing in the classroom and with preventing parents from suggesting other options for their child.  I met regularly with parents to go over the curriculum content and allow them a chance to provide feedback.  That process recognized the importance, even necessity of parental involvement in the educational process.

The act states that it is not requiring the censoring of books in schools.  It also says that it allows for parents to provide other nonexplicit instructional materials.  Actions like this seem reasonable and respectful of parental rights.

I strongly support section V, part A of the act concerning "Guiding Principles".  Parents and educators should share mutual confidence and respect for each other.
