Strongly Opposed to Model Policies on "Sexually Explicit Content"

I strongly oppose the Model Policies Concerning Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content because it uses the § 2.2-2827 definition of "sexual content," which includes "homosexuality" alongside topics like sadomasochism and bestiality. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Books with gay themes are not necessarily "sexual content." Age-appropriate LGBTQ+ books are important for all children.

Queer people exist; queer parents exist; queer kids exist; and queer families exist. You cannot erase us by refusing to allow public schools to make available books that recognize this fact.
