Oppose Model Policies Concerning Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content

I oppose the proposed Model Policies Concerning Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content. There will be unintentional consequences with such policies. Shakespeare classics such as Romeo and Juliet or Toni Morrison’s Beloved could fall victim to such policies. Some of our students may find that books representing them banned. We must trust educators and librarians to make age appropriate decisions with options for parents who are uncomfortable with their individual students reading certain texts.
