Subsection A of 2.2-2827 states: "Sexually explicit content is defined as, (i) any description of or (ii) any picture, photgraph or drawing, motion picture film, visual image or similar visual representation depicting sexual beastiality, a lewd exhibition of nudity, as nudity is defined in subsection 18.2-390, sexual excitement, sexual conduct, or sadomasochistic abuse, as also defined in 18.2-390, coprophilia, urophilia, or fetishism." These are the restriction on state employees access to information infrastructure. If state employees are restricted to this information, then it only makes sense that children and adolecents should not be exposed to it either.

Once something is seen, it can not be unseen. And once something is read, it can not be unread.  The image remains in our minds. Children's minds are not fully developed until their late teens or early twenties. Why would we intentionally expose impressionable, young minds to vulgarity, lewd behaviors, pornography, and the dehumanizing of people? 

I support the SB656 model policies and look forward to the day when all sexually explicit content is removed from classrooms and school libraries.
