There is no data on long-term effects of these vaccines, which adults can consent to wholeheartedly. The data we have seems to point to a higher percentage of young males at greater risk of heart issues after taking the shot than adults. This side effect is still being studied, but until we get more comprehensive data, to force all children, who are at greater risk for this side effect than adults, and who are at least risk for contracting Covid, would not only be folly, but sinister. Those same children will also be experiencing the unstudied long-term effects far longer than adults, to whom their safekeeping is entrusted.
To that end, multiple parents who had no problem taking the vaccine themselves, are well prepared to fight back hard, especially those who experienced side effects, if their children are FORCED to take this particular vaccine until we know more about it's effects on children specifically. Schools are already struggling without trying to catch children up on a year missed of their lives, it is not the time to provoke or encourage a mass Exodus over a vaccine, several versions of which are still in the clinical trial phase and rightfully so.
In addition to side effect concerns, hesitancy over the vaccines is still higher in poorer, less educated, and minority communities. To force a vaccine would also create a greater disparity in the education offered wealthier, safer communities who have the privilege of trusting their healthcare system and lower income, diverse communities who have had historic reasons to be sceptical of the healthcare offered them.
