The Governor's proposed new regulation banning guns in Virginia government buildings he controls is a solution in search of a problem. There has been no problem with shootings in government buildings. In fact, in Virginia as elsewhere in the United States mass shooting (as defined by the FBI) take place where guns are prohibited. If a gunman not enters a Virginia government office, will the governor accept responsibility for failing to protect the Commonwealth's employees and other citizens? Will there be armed guards, metal detectors, and other security protections, in those offices? I believe that the comment period for this matter is of insufficient length, and request that it be extended.
