It's very simple... How do we protect our elected officials? With armed guards. How do we protect our banks? With armed guards. How do police officers and military personnel protect themselves? By carrying arms. Yet when it comes to protecting private citizens such our children (on government property) and employees in this case (providing government services) we put up a sign saying it is illegal for these law abiding citizens to protect their lives and/or loved ones with any kind of firearm! If it were possible to ask any person who had a loved one in the middle of an active shooter situation if they would prefer their loved one to be carrying a firearm or to wait for some authority figure, with a firearm, to arrive... I think the answer would be pretty unanimous.
