Dear Air Pollution Control Board. Leaving RGGI will only deepen the economic divide in Virginian communities.
Wealthier counties in Virginia have the resources to protect themselves from floods and stopping RGGI would only reinforce that while hitting hard the most vulnerable in our state.
RGGI helps the elderly, veterans and others already stretched thin in today's inflated economy stay in their homes. Less financially well-off counties don't have the staff, ability or resources to help their struggling taxpayers stay in their homes without the help of RGGI.
Thinking ahead, what will happen to these displaced people in Virginia if RGGI goes away? It will only create a more disunified and unstable Virginia. I don't think that's something any of us want.
Getting rid of RGGI may seem easy to some in Virginia politics now but what is easy now will be very expensive later.
