My spouse, a stroke survivor, requires intensive rehabilitation and precise care to manage post-stroke complications such as aphasia and partial paralysis. I have become proficient in delivering the necessary therapies and adapting our home environment to their needs. Introducing a new caregiver unfamiliar with these adaptations could lead to improper care and impede recovery. I should be the primary caregiver to ensure that my spouse’s rehabilitation continues uninterrupted. The support from HB909/SB488 has been crucial in allowing me to remain the primary caregiver, ensuring that my spouse receives the tailored care they need. The Virginia General Assembly’s actions have supported their recovery journey. Amending these provisions could hinder my spouse’s progress by introducing caregivers who might not provide the same level of specialized care. The current Draft VA.004.05.03 could cause setbacks in my spouse’s rehabilitation and overall health.
