Finalizing rules when a (LRI) is the paid aide/attendant

My child’s medical condition necessitates frequent, delicate adjustments to their care routine, which I manage with precision. The expertise I have developed as the LRI makes me the best choice to ensure my child's safety and well-being. Training a new aide every time a change is impractical and risky. I am already fully trained and capable of handling these adjustments, making me the primary choice for my child’s care.

The provisions of HB909/SB488 have been instrumental in allowing me to be compensated for my expertise in my child's care. The Virginia General Assembly's support has meant that my child’s care remains uninterrupted and tailored to their needs. Altering these provisions would risk introducing errors and inconsistencies in their care. The current waiver draft could force us to rely on less experienced aides, potentially leading to mistakes that could have serious consequences. This would compromise the tailored care crucial to my child's well-being.
