You wouldn't let a first-year medical student to treat your child, so why would you let a first-year veterinary student treat your beloved cat, or your dog, or your pet ferret? I strongly believe that until you're in your third or fourth year of medical school--of any type--you shouldn't be dealing with life-and-death issues with animals, which are unable to voice their pain and their problems, and are as vulnerable as infants. The prospect of inexperienced students so much as cutting my pet's toenails gives me the creeps, and should give you the creeps, too. Bad law, bad medicine.
