Coursework and labs as foundations for clinical experience

I do NOT support this petition. The language in this petition does not provide for any supervision or safeguards related to students' clinical and practical experience. It makes sense that a fourth-year student would have a strong foundation through coursework and laboratory experience, but I do not understand how that would occur with students in their first or second years or perhaps even their third years. If students do not feel ready for practice, then there should be a way to redesign the fourth year of clinical practice to better equip them to become professional veterinarians.

Further, it also seems important to know what the standards are for accreditation and how exemplary colleges of veterinary medicine address an issue such as this. The petition appears to be an inappropriate solution for students of veterinary medicine and completely unsatisfactory for those of who own and love our pets.
