I support this regulation as a parent of two former Fairfax County students and as a Christian. The frequent objection that I have read on this site is 'the undo hardship to the teachers' in discerning what is sensitive material. That in itself is enough reason to have such a regulation. If my children were required to read something that is considered sensitive (morally) to our eyes, ears, and minds -- and it were not sensitive in another household -- that puts undo burden on the former family to 'protect itself' from outside influences. Since we are taxpayers and support the school system financially, it seems right that the teachers do everything in their power to include the parents in their curriculum decisions -- even if that means repeating the information to ensure that the parents have all the tools they need to protect and defend their families.
