I urge you to notify parents ahead of time of this graphic and sexual material that is given to my children to read! I have four boys that I'm constantly trying to reduce the exposure to graphic/sexual material in their everyday lives whether it is through television, movies, internet, friends... It is a constant battle that is hard enough to fight without the schools adding to the problem. If there is a need to expose them, I want to be notified and given an option to opt out. The movie Beloved is a perfect example. Some kids who are asked to read the book in class wouldn't even be able to see this R rated movie due to their age and content. Why, would we have a child read the same material, in fact force them to read it as it is part of the curricuulum?
