As a teacher, I oppose this wholeheartedly.  I provide a syllabus that includes all of the books I will teach throughout the year.  If a parent has a concern about a text, I welcome them to speak with me so that we can resolve his/her concerns and allow me to provide my rationale for teaching it.  As a parent, that's my right and responsibility, not something that needs to be legislated.
